We are excited to introduce another new volunteer, Daan! He will be joining the reforestation team once he arrives in Madagascar. Check out his intro blog below and get to know a little bit more about him!
“Hi, my name is Daan, I am 21 years old and I am from the Netherlands. Just recently, I finished a Bachelor in Biology with a major in Human and Animal Health and a minor in Plant Biotechnology at Wageningen University. The latter is also the field in which I wish to continue with my Master when I return.
When I am not studying, I am very active in my Student Association, where I do all sorts of things. I like to organize camps here and I love to be the bartender in our own café! Besides the Student Association, I do other voluntary jobs (mainly in the summer). These include organizing water sport trips for adolescents and working on a sailing ship as a Watch Leader.
After my Bachelor, I didn’t want to start right off with a new study, I needed some time off the University. As I love to be outside in nature and to work with plants, the reforestation project immediately caught my attention and I am very happy that I may participate! Besides all this, I think it is a very good opportunity for me to learn more about working with people from other countries, nature and to live in the tropics for a while. Altogether, I am very excited and I am looking forward to this new experience!”
