Meet Our Newest Volunteer, Haley!
My name is Haley. I originally was supposed to be volunteering in 2020 but, with a shutdown world, that didn’t come to fruition. Now I am back and so excited to learn all that the Madagascar Biodiversity Partnership has to offer.
I am currently a full-time raft guide in the summers and am quite passionate about whitewater. I also enjoy a good book and have currently finished 10 books so far this year. I love hiking and spending time in nature. As well as, traveling both close to home and far across the world. And deep discussions will always spark my interest over small talk.
I have two degrees, a BS in Animal Science and an Ontario Diploma in Outdoor Adventure Naturalism. My original goal for coming to Madagascar was to get more experience in wildlife research, but in the 4 years since I was supposed to volunteer the first-time life has changed and so have some of my goals. This became a bucket list adventure that I was determined to do and am finally getting my chance. Most of all, I want to embrace every moment of it. I hope to learn as much as I can about conservation, travel, and Madagascar as I can and apply that knowledge to whichever future endeavors I choose to pursue. This is the experience of a lifetime, and I know I won’t be the same by the end, in all the best ways.
